The Olive Branch for Children

The Olive Branch for Children is a non-profit organization founded by GTA native Deborah McCraken-Nangareke, who went on a short term mission trip to Africa and found herself so moved and transformed by the children of Tanzania, that she never came back!  Instead she founded The Olive Branch for Children in 2005. This organization seeks to help children and communities in Tanzania get back on their feet, especially those shaken by the repercussions of the AIDS/HIV crisis. Children once thought as good as dead are now on their way to university! Deborah is known as “Mom” to many Tanzanian kids.

TOBFC has built schools, homes for children, community gardens, provided access to healthcare, and so much more.  Read about them on their website or Facebook page.  There are also numerous articles to be found on the web about this multiple-award-winning organization.

It is a highlight for our church to be visited by Deborah every year, to hear another inspiring and uplifting update from this remarkable organization.  St. Mark’s feels so privileged to be part of this vision and to participate in STANDING UP against the injustices in this world by being a part of TOBFC family!
