Holy Week

March 29 to April 5, 2026

Looking out from empty tomb, three crosses are seen. Quote "You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here." Mark 16:6

The week leading up to Easter unfolds like a drama at St. Mark’s!

Palm Sunday, March 29 – We re-enact Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem by waving palm branches. (English and Nuer language services available.)

Maundy Thursday, April 2 – We share Holy Communion as at the Last Supper. The altar is stripped bare as we remember Jesus’ arrest.

Good Friday, April 3 – The sanctuary is draped in black at this special service remembering Jesus’ crucifixion. The Nuer congregation will join Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 322 East Ave, Kitchener, for a joint Good Friday service. The service will begin at 3:00 PM.

Easter Sunday, April 5 – The sanctuary is filled with colour, flowers, and joyful music as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection! There are two different morning services offered. The Nuer-speaking community of Southern Ontario, comprised of eight churches, will unite for an Easter Sunday service at St. Mark’s in the afternoon.

Everyone is welcome at any or all of these services.  We recommend all services to get the full impact of the Holy Week drama 😉

The English-language Easter sermon will also be available to watch online after Easter Sunday.
