Holy Week
April 13 to 20, 2025
The week leading up to Easter unfolds like a drama at St. Mark’s!
Palm Sunday, April 13 – We re-enact Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem by waving palm branches. (English and Nuer language services available.)
Maundy Thursday, April 17 – We share Holy Communion as at the Last Supper. The altar is stripped bare as we remember Jesus’ arrest.
Good Friday, April 18 – The sanctuary is draped in black at this special service remembering Jesus’ crucifixion. The Nuer congregation will join Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Hamilton, Ontario, for a joint Good Friday service. The service will begin at 2:00 PM.
Easter Sunday, April 20 – The sanctuary is filled with colour, flowers, and joyful music as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection! The Nuer congregation will participate with other Nuer-speaking congregations in Kitchener-Waterloo for a joint Easter worship service. This celebration will take place at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener at 2:00 PM.
Everyone is welcome at any or all of these services. We recommend all services to get the full impact of the Holy Week drama 😉
